What is it and what is it used for?
Sorbiclis is a rectal solution containing two active ingredients: non-crystallizing liquid sorbitol and docusate sodium.
These two substances belong to the class of laxatives and act by softening the stool and stimulating the intestine to eliminate it.
This medicine is used for the short-term treatment of occasional constipation.
Contact your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 7 days.


What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use Sorbicis
- if you are allergic to the active substances or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
- if you have problems with your anus or the last part of your intestine called the "rectum" (ano-rectal conditions with lesions of the mucosa, rectal bleeding of unknown origin);
- if you have liver problems (liver failure, bile duct obstruction, gallstones);
- if you have abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting;
- if you have intestinal problems (intestinal obstruction or stenosis);
- if he is very dehydrated.


Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor before using Sorbicis:
• if constipation is persistent. Treatment of chronic or recurrent constipation always requires medical intervention for diagnosis, medication prescription, and monitoring during therapy;
• if you have noticed a sudden change in your bowel habits (frequency and characteristics of bowel movements) that lasts for more than two weeks;
• if you are pregnant or breastfeeding (see also "Pregnancy and breastfeeding");
• if he is elderly or his health conditions are not good.

Consult your doctor even if, after a short period of treatment with this medicine, you do not obtain appreciable results.

Do not use this medicine for long-term treatments .
Laxative abuse (frequent or prolonged use or excessive doses) can cause:
• dependence and therefore possible need to gradually increase the dose;
• chronic constipation;
• loss of normal bowel movements (intestinal atony);
• Persistent diarrhea that may lead to loss of water, mineral salts (especially potassium), and other essential nutrients. In more severe cases, dehydration or a decrease in blood potassium (hypokalemia) may occur, which can lead to dysfunction of the heart or the nerves that control the muscles. The risk is increased if you are taking heart medications (cardiac glycosides), drugs used for high blood pressure (diuretics), or drugs used for allergies and inflammation (corticosteroids).

Children
Sorbicis Adults 36 g + 0.24 g rectal solution is not indicated in children.
In children under 12 years of age, Sorbiclis Bambini 12 g + 0.0096 g rectal solution can only be used after consulting a doctor.


Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Occasionally, cramp-like pain or abdominal cramps may occur, which are more common in cases of severe constipation. No intolerance or discomfort has been reported with application.

Additional side effects in children
Occasionally, children experienced difficulty controlling stool output and the rectal solution was rapidly expelled soon after introduction.
