What is it and what is it for?
TISANA KELEMATA is a laxative. It is a short-term treatment for occasional constipation.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
Presence of acute or unknown abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting, intestinal obstruction or stenosis, rectal bleeding of unknown origin, severe dehydration
Warnings and precautions
Treatment of chronic or recurrent constipation always requires medical attention for diagnosis, medication prescription, and monitoring throughout treatment. Consult your doctor when the need for a laxative arises from a sudden change in previous bowel habits (characteristic frequency of bowel movements) that lasts more than two weeks, when constipation is persistent, or when laxative use fails to work.
Laxative abuse (frequent or prolonged use or excessive doses) can cause persistent diarrhea resulting in loss of water, mineral salts (especially potassium) and other essential nutrients.
In the most severe cases, dehydration or hypokalemia (decrease in potassium in the blood) may occur, which can lead to cardiac or neuromuscular dysfunction, especially in the case of concomitant treatment with cardiac glycosides, diuretics or corticosteroids.
Laxative abuse, especially contact laxatives (stimulant laxatives), can cause dependence (and thus the potential need to gradually increase the dosage), chronic constipation, and loss of normal bowel function (intestinal atony). First of all, it should be noted that, in most cases, a balanced diet rich in water and fiber (bran, vegetables, and fruit) can provide lasting relief from constipation.
Many people think they're constipated if they can't have a daily bowel movement. This is a misconception, as this is completely normal for many people. Instead, consider that constipation occurs when bowel movements are less frequent than usual and are associated with hard stools.
If constipation episodes occur repeatedly or if you have noticed any recent changes in their characteristics, you should consult your doctor.
Possible side effects
TISANA KELEMATA may cause side effects. Following the instructions reduces the risk of such side effects.
Occasionally: isolated cramping pains or abdominal colic, more frequent in cases of severe constipation.
With use of the product, urine may occasionally become slightly yellow-brown or red. This coloration is simply due to the presence of senna components in the urine and is not clinically significant.
Continued use of laxatives can cause addiction or various types of harm.
These effects are generally transient. If they occur, it is advisable to consult your doctor or pharmacist.
It is important to inform your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any side effects not listed in the package leaflet.
