What is it and what is it for?
MARCO VITI SALICYLIC ACID contains the active ingredient salicylic acid which belongs to the group of medicines called keratolytics which destroy excess keratin.
This medicine is indicated in adults and children for:
- treatment of psoriasis, acne vulgaris, seborrhea;
- the removal of warts and calluses.
In adults, MARCO VITI SALICYLIC ACID is also indicated for the treatment of skin problems such as eczema and ichthyosis.

Talk to your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse.


What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use MARCO VITI SALICYLIC ACID:
- if you are allergic to salicylic acid, salicylates or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
- if the patient is a child under 2 years of age;
- if you suffer from diabetes;
- if you suffer from vein disease (peripheral vascular disease).


Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using MARCO VITI SALICYLIC ACID.

Do not swallow the medicine and avoid putting MARCO VITI SALICYLIC ACID in contact with your mouth, eyes, genitals and other mucous membranes.

MARCO VITI SALICYLIC ACID is an irritant and can cause skin inflammation (dermatitis).
If you use this medicine to treat corns and warts, protect the healthy skin around the area to be treated.

Avoid using MARCO VITI SALICYLIC ACID:
- for long periods of time;
- in large quantities;
- on large areas of the body;
- on broken or inflamed skin.

An excessive amount of the medicine can cause very serious adverse reactions, especially in children, (systemic salicylate poisoning) which can be fatal.

Children
This medicine should be administered with caution to children and under medical supervision.


Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Frequency not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data):
- decrease in blood glucose levels (hypoglycemia);
- skin irritation and inflammation (dermatitis, erythema, burning, itching, peeling of the skin), scars on the face.
