What is it and what is it for?
BENAGOL contains the active ingredients 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol, amylmetacresol, vitamin C (sodium ascorbate, ascorbic acid) and is used to disinfect the mouth and throat.
BENAGOL Orange-flavored Vitamin C Lozenges are used in adults and children over 6 years of age .
Talk to your doctor if you/your child does not feel better or if you/your child feels worse after a short time of treatment.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not take/give BENAGOL to your child
- if you are allergic to 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol, amylmetacresol, ascorbic acid or sodium ascorbate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
- if the child is under 6 years old.
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking/giving BENAGOL to your child.
If you/your child experiences any allergic reactions or irritation, stop taking this medicine and consult your doctor (see section "Possible side effects").
Children and adolescents
Do not give BENAGOL to children under 6 years of age.
Be careful with preschool children as swallowing whole tablets can cause choking.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The following side effects may occur with the use of BENAGOL, in which case STOP taking this medicine and consult your doctor immediately :
- Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people)
• Hypersensitivity (allergic reaction)
• Glossitis (inflammation of the tongue)
- Not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data)
• Abdominal pain
• Nausea
• Gastrointestinal discomfort
• Skin rash
