Descriptive sheet Actreen Lite
Description
Ready-to-use, sterile, hydrophilic, self-lubricating, NO-TOUCH catheter for intermittent catheterization. Actreen Lite's features make it easy to use, lightweight, compact, and safe. It makes emptying the bladder simple and safe anywhere. Its single-packaging design makes it extremely practical, easy to handle, and ready for immediate use.
Furthermore, the "NO TOUCH" sheath ensures the possibility of performing truly safe catheterization, even in situations where there is no possibility of enjoying adequate hygiene standards.
The catheter is easy to prepare as it simply requires removing the sheath at the base of the connector and the sheath at its end. Once this is done, the catheter is ready for use.
Actreen Lite consists of a Nelaton or Tiemann-type PVC catheter with a hydrophilic coating of glycerin and water, ready for use. The hydrophilic coating eliminates activation times and ensures a low friction coefficient throughout the duration of the catheterization, allowing for easy and safe insertion and atraumatic removal.
The high hydration of the coating prevents any risk of the catheter adhesion to the urethral wall; this is particularly advantageous during the extraction procedure in subjects who, due to particular functional limitations, require a long time to perform the self-catheterization procedure.
The catheter appears completely and uniformly lubricated, ready for use and without the need for any additional maneuvers to induce lubrication (activation of the hydrophilic substrate). Thanks to the hygroscopic effect of glycerin, the lubricant in B. Braun catheters maintains its hydration level unchanged for more than an hour.
It features atraumatic holes with smooth, rounded edges to allow for rapid urine flow. The heat-sealed, pre-cut polyethylene sheath allows for hands-free handling of the catheter (NO TOUCH technique). This sheath provides a better grip for all users, even those with limited manual dexterity, and helps reduce potential bacterial contamination during catheterization. The catheter tip has a cone that connects to standard urine collection bags.
Removal of the sheath at both the distal and proximal ends is facilitated by the presence of special eyelets, which allow for easy removal even by users with limited manual dexterity. The sheath has an additional pre-cut portion near the base of the catheter in the female version and two-thirds of the way down the length of the catheter in the male version. Therefore, a larger portion of the sheath can be removed if the user's limited manual dexterity makes it difficult to fold the sheath back on itself during catheterization.
