What is it and what is it for?
Alfa decongestant eye drops contain the active ingredient naphazoline nitrate which belongs to the group of ocular mucosa decongestants.
Alfa decongestant eye drops are used in cases of redness, tearing, burning and itching of the eyes, caused by irritation (excessive exposure to dust, smoke, etc.).

Contact your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 4 days of treatment.


What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use Alfa Decongestant Eye Drops
- If you are allergic to naphazoline nitrate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
- If you suffer from narrow-angle glaucoma (increased pressure inside the eye) or other serious eye diseases.
- in children under twelve years of age.
- if you are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitor drugs (antidepressants).


Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor before using Alfa Decongestant Eye Drops:
- if you suffer from hypertension (increased blood pressure), hyperthyroidism (increased thyroid function), heart problems, bronchial asthma and hyperglycemia (diabetes).
- In case of infections, pus, foreign bodies in the eye, mechanical, chemical or heat damage.

Children and adolescents
Do not use in children under twelve years of age.
Take special care to keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children because, if accidentally ingested, it can cause CNS depression (marked sedation or hypotonia, i.e. muscle weakness).


Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Use of the product may sometimes cause pupil dilation, systemic effects from absorption (hypertension, cardiac disorders, hyperglycemia), increased pressure within the eye, nausea, headache.

Hypersensitivity reactions (difficulty breathing, low blood pressure, or skin rash) may rarely occur. If this occurs, discontinue treatment and contact your doctor so that appropriate therapy can be instituted, if necessary.
Following the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects. These side effects are generally temporary. However, if they occur, it is advisable to consult your doctor or pharmacist.
