FARINGOTRICIN 2.5 mg orodispersible tablets

What is it and what is it for?
PHANGOTRICIN contains tyrothricin, an antibiotic capable of blocking the growth of bacteria.
This medicine is used for the topical (local) treatment of bacterial infections of the mucosa lining the mouth (oral mucosa). These infections, called bacterial stomatitis, can affect the gums, tongue, and lips.
Talk to your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a few days.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use PHARINGOTRICIN
- if you are allergic to tyrothricin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using FARINGOTRICINA.
Use of this medicine, especially if prolonged, may cause sensitization (an excessive reaction of the body to foreign substances it has come into contact with). In this case, discontinue treatment and consult your doctor, who will recommend appropriate therapy.
Stop treatment and consult your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a few days because the infection may be caused by bacteria against which tyrothricin is not effective.
Children
Talk to your doctor before using this medicine in infants and young children. This medicine should be administered only when clearly needed and under medical supervision.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The following side effects have occurred rarely:
- blackening of the tongue;
- inflammation of the tongue (glossitis);
- sensitization reactions (excessive reaction of the body to this medicine).
