What is it and what is it for?
GLYCEROL Polifarma Benessere belongs to a group of medicines called laxatives.
GLYCEROL Polifarma Benessere works by stimulating intestinal movements, accelerating the passage of intestinal contents.
GLYCEROL Polifarma Benessere is used in adults and adolescents aged 12 to 18 years for the treatment of constipation.

Contact your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 7 days.


What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use GLYCEROL Polifarma Benessere

- if you are allergic to glycerol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6),
- if you have a severe stomach ache, the cause of which you do not know,
- if you feel nauseous or vomit,
- if you suffer from obstruction or narrowing of the intestine (intestinal stenosis),
- if you lose blood from the rectum and you don't know the cause,
- if you have hemorrhoids and they bleed,
- if you have lost a lot of fluids.


Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using GLYCEROL Polifarma Benessere.
Like all laxatives, do not use GLICEROLO Polifarma Benessere daily or for prolonged periods without first consulting your doctor to determine the cause of your constipation. Treatment of chronic or recurrent constipation always requires medical attention for diagnosis, medication prescription, and ongoing monitoring.
In particular, consult your doctor:
• when the need for a laxative arises from a sudden change in previous bowel habits (frequency and characteristics of bowel movements) that lasts for more than two weeks or when the use of the laxative fails to produce any effects,
• if he is elderly or in poor health.

If you abuse laxatives (frequent or prolonged use or in excessive doses) you may experience:
- Persistent diarrhea resulting in loss of water, minerals (especially potassium), and other essential nutrients. This may cause heart or movement problems, especially if you are taking medications to treat high blood pressure and inflammation (cardiac glycosides, diuretics, or corticosteroids).
- dependence (and, therefore, the need to increase the dose), chronic constipation and loss of normal intestinal functions (intestinal atony).

Children
Do not give GLYCEROL Polifarma Benessere adulti to children under 12 years of age without consulting your doctor.


Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

The following side effects may occur:

Effects affecting the stomach and intestines , more frequent in cases of severe constipation and rectal irritation:
• Pain and cramps
• abdominal colic
• diarrhea
• loss of fluids and electrolytes
• rectal irritation
