Name
HerpMed Labiale 50 mg mucoadhesive buccal tablets
Acyclovir
What is it and what is it for?
HerpMed Labial contains the active ingredient aciclovir and belongs to a group of drugs called antivirals.
HerpMed Labial is used to treat recurrent cold sores caused by the herpes simplex virus in adults with a healthy immune system. HerpMed Labial should be applied directly to the gums as soon as the first symptoms (burning, tingling, and itching) or signs (redness and swelling) appear.
The virus causes blisters or ulcers, primarily on the lips, but sometimes also on other parts of the face. The viral infection can be triggered when the immune system is weakened, for example by colds or other infections. Strong sun, stress, or the menstrual cycle can also trigger symptoms.
HerpMed Labial inhibits the virus's ability to reproduce and therefore causes the infection to regress.
If you do not feel better or if your symptoms have not improved after 5 days, you should contact your doctor.
