What is it and what is it for?
KALOBA is a traditional herbal medicine containing Pelargonium root extract as its active ingredient.
KALOBA is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of the common cold in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.
The use of this traditional herbal medicine, for the therapeutic indications indicated, is based exclusively on many years of experience.
Contact your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 7 days.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not take KALOBA
- if you are allergic to Pelargonium or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
- if you have a tendency to bleed.
- if you are taking medicines that delay blood clotting.
- if you suffer from severe liver and kidney diseases (severe liver failure and severe kidney failure).
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking KALOBA.
Treatment with KALOBA should be stopped immediately and your doctor should be consulted if the following occur:
- liver problems (hepatotoxicity);
- increased respiratory rate (tachypnea)
- presence of blood in the sputum (hemoptysis).
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The assessment of adverse reactions is based on information on frequency:
Uncommon (may affect less than 1 in 100 but more than 1 in 1,000 people)
- Stomach pain, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, dysphagia, and diarrhea.
Rare (may affect less than 1 in 1,000 but more than 1 in 10,000 people)
- Mild bleeding gums
- Mild nosebleed.
- Hypersensitivity reaction (type I reactions with rash, urticaria, itching of the skin and mucous membranes; type II reactions with antibody formation).
Very rare (may affect less than 1 in 10,000 people)
- Severe hypersensitivity reactions with facial swelling, shortness of breath and drop in blood pressure.
Not known: (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data)
- Hepatotoxicity
