Category
Anthelmintics.
Active ingredients
Pyrantel pamoate 115.30 mg/g (equivalent to 40.0 mg/g of pyrantel base).
Directions
It is indicated for the treatment and prevention of roundworm and hookworm infestations in kittens, pregnant and lactating cats and adult cats.
Dosage
57.65 mg of pyrantel pamoate equivalent to 20 mg of pyrantel base per kg of cat's body weight. Administration: For ease of use, the following dosage is recommended. 2 g syringe: two syringe marks per kg of body weight. 3 g syringe: one syringe mark per kg of body weight. It should be administered in a single dose, without starving the cat or placing it on a specific diet. Nemex's palatability allows it to be spread directly into the cat's mouth or, in the case of unsociable animals, mixed with food. Prophylaxis: Prophylaxis is used to keep the cat free of worms. Furthermore, prophylactic treatment allows the cat to: be more resistant to other diseases; be more tolerant of stress; have a more alert sensorium; and have a better overall appearance, particularly with a shinier coat. Prophylaxis program: 1. Kittens (up to 12 weeks of age): The first treatment should be administered at 10-14 days of age. Subsequent treatments should be administered at weekly intervals until 2-3 weeks after weaning (approximately 5-7 weeks of age). If the likelihood of infestation persists, it is advisable to proceed with further treatments at 2-week intervals until the 12th week of age. 2. Young and adult cats (after 12 weeks of age): Proceed with regular treatments every 3 months. In poor hygiene and/or environmental conditions that favor the possibility of more frequent infestation, it is advisable to repeat the treatments at more frequent intervals. 3. Female cats: Proceed with treatment 2, 4, and 6 weeks after each heat. Cats that have given birth should be treated at the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, and 10th weeks after giving birth. Outside of these periods and under good hygienic conditions, disinfestation treatments every three months are sufficient. Treatment: Treatment should be administered immediately whenever the presence of parasites is confirmed and repeated after 2-3 weeks. To ensure correct dosing, the plunger must be reset to zero before dosing. Before administering, remove the cap, carefully depress the plunger until the seal reaches the zero line, and discard any spilled paste.
