NEOMERCUROCROMO cutaneous solution

What is it and what is it for?
NEOMERCUROCROMO is a product based on eosin, chloroxylenol and propylene glycol used in the local disinfectant treatment of superficial wounds, abrasions, superficial and non-extensive burns (first degree burns), and minor bedsores (i.e. affecting only the most superficial layer of the skin).
Talk to your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a few days.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use NEOMERCUROCROMO
- if you are allergic to the active substances or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine ( listed in section 6 ).
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Neomercurochrome:
• Do not use for prolonged treatments; after a short period of treatment without appreciable results, consult your doctor. Use, especially if prolonged, of products for cutaneous (local) application can give rise to sensitization phenomena (excessive reaction of the body to foreign substances with which it has come into contact). In this case, discontinue treatment and consult your doctor to begin appropriate therapy;
• the product is for external use only;
• Accidental ingestion or inhalation of some disinfectants can have serious, sometimes fatal, consequences. In case of accidental ingestion, consult a doctor immediately ;
• avoid contact with eyes.
Neomercurochrome leaves stains on clothes that are difficult to remove.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
In some cases, burning or irritation (intolerance) may occur, but this is harmless and does not require treatment modification. Repeated applications or bandaging that prevents the treated area from breathing may cause skin inflammation (eczematous reactions). Use of the medicine may cause sensitivity to the sun and UV rays (photosensitization).
Following the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.
