Döderlein's bacillus
What is it and what is it for?
NORMOGIN is made from freeze-dried Döderlein's bacillus (Lactobacillus rhamnosus). This lactobacillus is normally present in the vagina of a healthy woman and represents the main natural defense mechanism against the development of disease-causing agents (pathogenic microorganisms). NORMOGIN restores normal (physiological) conditions to the vaginal environment and is a useful adjunct after completing antibiotic or other chemotherapy treatments.
NORMOGIN is indicated in the treatment of the following vaginal disorders:
- vaginal infections (vaginitis associated with ovarian failure, infantile vaginitis, senile vaginitis);
- itching (vulvar itching);
- increased secretions (hypofolliculin leukorrhea);
- alteration of the vaginal mucosa (vaginal dystrophy);
- adjuvant to other medicines (antibiotics and chemotherapy) in infections caused by a germ (Trichomonas vaginitis).

What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use NORMOGIN
if you are allergic to the active substance or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Do not use NORMOGIN to replace antibiotic or chemotherapy therapy, but to supplement it, especially at the end of specific treatment for the infection, as this medicine restores the normal (physiological) conditions of the vagina.

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
