Description
A laxative for the treatment of occasional constipation in adults and children, it helps soften stool and facilitate its passage along intestinal loops, particularly in cases of diverticula. Recommended to prevent straining during defecation in cases such as hernias, hypertension, anorectal vascular disorders, hemorrhoids, or abdominal, intestinal, or rectal surgery.
Components
Vaseline oil, olive oil, almond oil in equal parts.
How to use
- From 6 to 11 years: 2-3 teaspoons per day, in a single administration.
- Ages 12 and up: 2-3 tablespoons daily, in a single dose. Take the product during or after meals, preferably in the evening, at least one hour before bed. Shake the bottle well before use.
Warnings
Do not use if taking other laxatives or stool softeners. Products with laxative effects should be used as infrequently as possible and for no more than seven days. A diet rich in liquids promotes the product's effect. Do not use if the packaging is damaged or after the expiration date printed on the packaging. Do not use in children under 3 years of age due to the risk of lipoid pneumonia. Keep out of reach of children. Possible side effects: Metabolic and nutritional disorders. Liquid paraffin may interfere with the absorption of liponutrients such as vitamins A, D, E, and K, especially following prolonged use of the product. It may cause isolated cramps or abdominal colic, more frequent in cases of severe constipation. It may cause rectal oozing (leakage, dripping) of paraffin, resulting in anal irritation and itching, and rectal bleeding following prolonged use. It may cause lipoid pneumonia and oil embolism due to accidental inhalation of the product.
Overdose and abuse: Laxative abuse, whether frequent or prolonged, or in excessive doses, causes abdominal pain and persistent diarrhea, resulting in loss of water, minerals (especially potassium), and other nutrients. Fluid and electrolyte losses must be replaced. Electrolyte imbalances cause symptoms such as thirst, vomiting, weakness, edema, bone pain (osteomalacia), and hypoalbuminemia. In severe cases, dehydration or hypokalemia may occur, possibly causing cardiac or neuromuscular dysfunction, especially if concomitant therapy with cardiac glycosides, diuretics, or corticosteroids. If constipation occurs repeatedly, a doctor should be consulted.
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to any of the components; nausea, vomiting, acute or unknown abdominal pain; intestinal obstruction or stenosis; gastrointestinal disorders such as appendicitis, ulcerative colitis, rectal bleeding of unknown origin; acute hemorrhoidal crisis with pain and bleeding; severe dehydration; subjects with difficulty swallowing or who have pathologies (e.g. hiatal hernia) or conditions (e.g. debilitated subjects confined to bed) that carry the risk of regurgitation; colostomy/ileostomy.
