What is it and what is it used for?
Octosedan contains lidocaine, an anesthetic, and is indicated for the short-term treatment of itching and pain in the anal region caused by hemorrhoidal disorders.
Contact your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 7 days.


What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use Octosedan:
- if you are allergic to lidocaine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).


Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Octosedan.
The product must be used with extreme caution in case of severely damaged mucous membranes and inflammation in the area to be treated, as in such situations excessive absorption of the active ingredient could occur.
Caution should also be exercised in case of infection in the area intended for application and in case of diabetes.


Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The following side effects have been reported:
Very common (may affect more than 1 in 10 people)
Allergic reactions at the application site, such as itching and burning
Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people)
Diarrhea
Uncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 people)
Discomfort and erythema (redness of the skin) at the application site.
