What is it and what is it for?

SERTAGYN is indicated for the local treatment of clinically confirmed vaginal candidiasis, i.e. an infection caused by fungi of the Candida genus.
Talk to your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use SERTAGYN

- During pregnancy and breastfeeding (see section “Pregnancy and breastfeeding”)
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using SERTAGYN.
In case of local intolerance or allergic reaction, treatment should be discontinued and any residual product can be removed by vaginal irrigation.
Use of the product may interfere with the effectiveness of latex contraceptive devices (condoms and diaphragms) as it may cause them to break.
In case of candidiasis also involving the vulvar and/or perianal areas (areas of the external genitalia and those around the anus), it is recommended to combine therapy with sertaconazole in vaginal ovules with local treatment with another antifungal.
In order to prevent a return of infections through the so-called ping-pong mechanism (i.e. transmission between partners), treating the partner with antifungal drugs is also essential.
For local hygiene, the use of soaps with a neutral or alkaline pH is recommended, as soaps with an acidic pH can encourage the proliferation of Candida.
The medicine can also be used during menstruation.
