What is it and what is it used for?
In neurology and pediatrics: clinical pictures expressing a state of hyperexcitability of the central and peripheral nervous system, supported by a magnesium deficiency.
In obstetrics: vomiting, insomnia, irritability, muscle cramps, painful contractions of the uterus, eclampsia.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Severe renal failure.
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
Do not administer to subjects undergoing digitalis therapy.
Warnings and precautions
There are no special precautions. If symptoms persist or worsen, contact your doctor.
In patients with renal insufficiency, it is necessary to reduce the dosage and monitor renal function and magnesium levels.
It is advisable to consider the possibility that cardiovascular and respiratory depression may occur during treatment.
SOLUMAG contains sucrose: if you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
It is advisable to take the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding under medical supervision and only in cases of real need.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, SOLUMAG can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Rare digestive problems; diarrhoea, abdominal pain.
Exceptional cases of individual intolerance to the ion have been reported, which can be treated with oral or parenteral antihistamines.
Following the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.
