RefluRAPID
Description
A mechanically acting medical device containing sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, and calcium carbonate, formulated to perform three synergistic actions: blocking acid reflux, reducing heartburn, and protecting the esophageal mucosa. Maalox RefluRAPID is indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and related symptoms, such as heartburn, heartburn during pregnancy, reflux esophagitis, acid regurgitation, indigestion, nighttime symptoms of reflux, cough, and laryngopharyngeal inflammation.
Thanks to the action of sodium alginate and the carbonates it contains, it can begin to work in just 3 minutes. Upon contact with stomach acid, sodium alginate reacts to form a gel, while the carbonates release carbon dioxide, allowing the gel to float and form a plug that mechanically prevents gastric juices from rising into the esophagus. The presence of bicarbonate also helps reduce stomach hyperacidity. Thanks to its unique properties, it acts as a barrier that protects the esophageal mucosa from acid attack, promoting its regeneration and helping prevent the risk of reflux esophagitis recurrence. Its formulation, featuring a specific balance of sodium alginate and carbonates, promotes rapid action.
