What is it and what is it for?
TANTUM VERDE GINGIVITIS AND STOMATITIS contains the active ingredients benzydamine hydrochloride (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory) and cetylpyridinium chloride (an antiseptic).
TANTUM VERDE GINGIVITIS AND STOMATITIS is used as an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and pain reliever for mouth and gum irritation, gingivitis, and stomatitis (such as canker sores, mouth sores, and denture sores). It is also recommended before and after tooth extractions.
Talk to your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 5-7 days of treatment.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not take TANTUM VERDE GINGIVITIS AND STOMATITIS
- if you are allergic to benzydamine hydrochloride, cetylpyridinium chloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking TANTUM VERDE GINGIVITIS AND STOMATITIS.
Use of TANTUM VERDE GINGIVITIS AND STOMATITIS, especially if prolonged, may cause sensitization phenomena (allergic reactions). In this case, discontinue treatment and consult your doctor to initiate appropriate therapy. See section 4 "Possible side effects".
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The side effects that may be observed while taking TANTUM VERDE GINGIVITIS AND STOMATITIS, the frequency of which is not known, are:
Benzydamine:
- slight numbness in the mouth. This effect is typically associated with the local anesthetic activity of cetylpyridinium benzydamine;
- phenomena of intolerance to the drug which manifests itself with mild and transient burning or local irritation.
These effects do not require any changes in treatment.
Following the instructions in this leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.
