Potassium sulfoguaiacolate + dropropizine
What is it and what is it used for?
Tiocalmina contains dropropizine and potassium sulfoguaiacolate.
Dropropizine has an antitussive effect; potassium sulfoguaiacolate has an expectorant effect, facilitating the expulsion of bronchial and tracheal secretions and reducing bronchial secretion and coughing.
Tiocalmine is used as a cough sedative, that is, to calm coughs of any kind, irritant coughs and smoker's cough.
Talk to your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a short time of treatment.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not take Tiocalmina
- if you are allergic to dropropizine, potassium sulfoguaiacolate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6),
- if you are pregnant or breast-feeding (see section 2. Pregnancy and breast-feeding),
- if you suffer from diabetes.
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Tiocalmina.
Due to the presence of ethanol (alcohol), use special caution if any of the following apply to you:
- suffers from liver disease;
- has/had alcohol abuse problems;
- suffers from epilepsy.
Children and adolescents
Tiocalmina can be used in children and adolescents.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The following side effects may occur following the use of Tiocalmina: - nausea;
- stomach and intestinal disorders.
These side effects are rare and generally temporary. If they occur, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
