Folate is critically important for the conversion of homocysteine to methionine.
Methyltetrahydrofolate reductase (MTFHR) is the rate-limiting enzyme in the methyl cycle that catalyzes the only biochemical reaction that produces 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (Quatrefolic), useful for reducing plasma homocysteine levels.
MTHFR C677T is a common MTFHR mutation with reduced catalytic activity, resulting in elevated plasma homocysteine levels, a common risk factor for cardiovascular disorders. A recent meta-analysis (published in June 2017) observed that patients with the MTFHR C677T mutation have a 30% increased risk of developing ischemic stroke.
Ingredients
Fish oil titrated in docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), extra virgin olive oil ( Olea europa L. , fruit), edible gelatin (capsule ingredient), homotaurine, glazing agents: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, shellac; anti-caking agents: silicon dioxide; antioxidant: DL-alpha-tocopherol; stabilizer: glycerol; extracyan blueberry ( Vaccinium myrtillus L. , fruit) dry extract; colorants: iron oxide, titanium dioxide; quatrefolic acid [(6S)-5-methyltetrahydrofolic acid, glucosamine salt].
